A grid orders the riders entered in a race class. When a rider sits in no class, or the wrong one, the grid cannot place them correctly.

If you imported registrations, most of this page is already done for you. Read it when you maintain entries by hand, or when a rider changes class.

Assign from a session

Open a session that has run and Race Control lists its classification: position, number, rider, and best lap, with a class picker on every row.

Qualifying is a good starting point because the riders on track are nearly the right set already. In one real session, 32 of the 36 riders were exactly one race entry list. The other four belonged to other classes in the same group.

Select several rows and use the bulk action to assign them together. A running count shows how many rows are still unassigned.

Nothing commits on its own. Race Control suggests, and you confirm. That rule holds everywhere an import proposes something.

Where the suggestions come from

Each row arrives with a class already picked, taken from the first of these that answers:

  1. An entry that rider already has in one of the session classes.
  2. The class that rider ran at the most recent earlier event this season.
  3. The registration hint in the uploaded file.
  4. Nothing, and the row stays blank.

Only one earlier event feeds rule 2, and deliberately so. It reflects the class a rider actually ran last, so a mid-season class change is not outvoted by three older rounds.

A rider entered in several classes last round takes the first of them, and you correct it. A visible wrong guess beats a blank row.

Correct the roster afterwards

The assignment screen only reaches riders who were on track for that session. Everything else gets fixed on Event → Entries.

Select rows there and choose one of two actions. They are different verbs and the difference matters.

  • Move takes an entry out of one class and puts it in another.
  • Add to Class leaves the entry where it is and creates a second one.

The correction an import asks for is most often Add to Class. A rider sitting in a generic imported class is not in the wrong class. They are in one class where they belong in two or three. One rider runs both 600 Amateur and 600 Superstock. Move can only ever produce one of those.

Warning

When you change entries after publishing a grid, that grid does not change. The race appears under Updates on the Grids leaf, where you review the before and after and decide. That is deliberate: no import and no correction ever silently regrids a published race.
